Prior to the Provincial Chapter of 1998, the community at large suggested that we look into the Lay Associate Program which, since Vatican II, was flourishing in many religious communities. These programs were established in answer to Vatican II's document on the role of laity in the Church and the awareness of the universal call to holiness. They have also served as a way to further transmit the charism of a religious community.
Associates are non-vowed members of our community who share in the spirit of our charism and our Franciscan spirituality. To some degree they also partake in the benefits of our community living and our prayer life. In addition, they join us in the mission of Christ through occasional ministerial experiences with us.
