Mt. Assisi Convent in Lemont , Illinois is the headquarters of our United States province. We are 55 Franciscan Sisters who live and serve in these places in the state of Illinois: Lemont, Joliet, Chicago, Yorkville, Winnetka, and Crest Hill.

Like our foundress, Sr. Margareta Pucher, we seek to serve the needs of the people of our time. Many of our Sisters are involved in the education of youth. Presently our Sisters also minister in care of the elderly and in parish ministry.

Our Vision Statement
This statement guides our decisions and actions:

Our Congregation
The School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King is an apostolic congregation founded in Maribor, Slovenia in 1869 by Sr. M. Margareta Pucher, a prayerful, courageous, and prophetic woman. We are Franciscans who, like Sr. Francis and Sr. Clare, seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus every day of our lives.

Our Charism
The charism or motivating spirit of our congregation is expressed in

• living the Gospel life for the love of God in a religious community in the Franciscan spirit of penance, joy, and simplicity, and
• educating youth and doing other apostolic works in the service of the Church.
